MELANIE PETERSON, NETWORK LEAD/CO-FOUNDER

Host of
Mask of Sanity

Melanie Peterson was born in Meadville, Pennsylvania. She is a NYC-based actress and, as of January 2020, a true crime podcaster. She graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a BS in Behavioral Science. After serving in the Air Force for five years, she moved to New York City to pursue her MFA in Acting at The Actors Studio Drama School and graduated in 2016. Melanie also studied film and television acting at The Barrow Group in Manhattan. When she’s not writing and recording her next episode, she works as a nanny for some amazing families in NYC and she loves dogs – all dogs and has worked as a private dog walker since 2018.

She created the true crime podcast Mask of Sanity because it really boiled down to trying to satiate her desire of figuring out why these killers, that society so readily refer to as “monsters,” could commit the most abhorrent crimes imaginable while finding a creative way to present the facts. Melanie also likes to tie in movie trivia, lines, or suggestions with each episode – there are lots of serial killer references and films out there! Plus she’s an actress at heart, can you blame her?

Melanie is a bourbon girl but won’t hold it against you, she loves her cat Ike and will cross the street just to meet your dog, and, most importantly, she thinks her nephews and niece are the most amazing kids on the planet. She will also fight you if you think any serial killer is hot – they’re not. When she was asked to join forces with Ariel and Melissa to create The Oracl3 Network, it was a dream come true – the women of true crime podcasting are raising the bar so get ready!
